Manager’s Notes: during 2016 the cabin and the private road to the cabin had some work done. We had fewer rentals than usual.

We had a lovely stay! The cabin was very homey, comfortable, and had everything we could need. The property is gorgeous and made for a great scenery to explore, or just enjoy from the back porch. Jason and Phyllis were great hosts, and although we didn't need to contact them with any issues during our stay, it was apparent they were readily available if we needed anything. Just the right amount of secluded, without being too far from town. Would definitely recommend.

The place has nice views and lots of privacy. The space is comfortable with two good sized bedrooms.

Better than expected!  One happy cabin was perfect for my needs, and even more cute and cozy than I expected from the photos. It is on a stunning piece of property, is well maintained, kitchen well stocked, nice deep bathtub, great wood stove. Thank you so much for a delightful, magical stay.

The cabin itself was in a great location - peaceful and beautiful; it was well stocked with anything and everything we might need and Jason and Phyllis were beyond accommodating, responsive and helpful.

An excellent, secluded vacation. We had family staying at the cabin next door, "Too Happy Cabin." Kids and dogs loved playing in the pond, and it was quiet and secluded. The appointments were very nice.

We had a lovely time at the cabin. The cabin itself was clean and cozy, we had everything we needed. It was well stocked, which was very nice that we didn't have to buy things like hand soap or toilet paper! The view was even better than we expected and the frog pond was a lot of fun. We were wondering if the frogs were the reason there were no mosquitos? We can't even sit outside on our own front porch in the summer without wearing tons of bug spray, and we spent most of our time at the cabin sitting outside, watching the birds and just enjoying the view. The guide books were great to have as we referred to them to identify birds. Clouds obscured the night sky all but the very last night, but it was worth the wait. We saw more stars than we can ever see at home--gorgeous! We may come back next summer. Thanks again.

It was very relaxing! Great cabin and views

A Peaceful Retreat

We stayed at the cabin for three nights and couldn't have had a better time. The entire property was well maintained and groomed. It was rustic, yet comfortable and the landscape was beautiful.

We had a wonderful stay at One Happy Cabin; the beds were very comfortable as well as the rest of the cabin and the bathroom. It was extremely peaceful and despite the non-stop rain, we enjoyed our stay.

The cabin was perfect! Great accommodations and the location was gorgeous! We had a great time and will definitely like to come back. The experience exceeded our expectations. Great fireplace, comfortable linens, nice movie/CD collection, etc. Thank you!

Thank you for a magnificent stay at your cabin. We were so comfy an cozy here and cooked up a storm with the fully equipped kitchen. Fantastic remote location set amongst the true beauty of nature. We're genuinely sorry to leave. P.S. Highlight was a bald eagle sighting. With many thanks and best wishes.

We had a great time here! Came up with every intention of going out and being active, but ended up so charmed by the house and views that we barely left! Really enjoyed the woodstove and the beautiful night sky! The DVD collection is great too! We’ve decided to make this a yearly getaway. So long for now, see you next November!

Ilana and Mike 11/25/11

The cabin and the views are beautiful. Would love to come back one day when it’s snowing too!! Although, the sunny weather was perfect (you can’t always guarantee weather like that in England!) we only wish we could have brought the 4- footer across the pond because he would have love it too!

A lovely last minute Easter weekend complete with April showers, spring peppers sang and daffodils and frogs! We recommend an evening at Andes: Cha Cha Hut BBQ is behind the deli and a drink at the hotel. Thanks for the no cell reception!

Georgia and Drew 4/22/11

Peace and Quiet and lots of it! Warm, cozy, and beautiful. Let it snow! Our two year old lab mix had the best time!

We thoroughly enjoyed this quaint, secluded, relaxing cabin to get away to. Such a nice escape from the hectic city! Beautiful land. Simple, clean, warm cabin. Really glad we came (and so was our little Schnauzer!)

Mitch and Jessica 10/28/10

So many good memories, can’t write them all down!! Sitting on the front porch, watching Roxy going down the hill on her back. Gazing up at thousands of stars, satellites, and space junk. Watching the fire and burning the roof of my mouth with marshmallows. Taking girls to a creek for afternoon dip and police talking to us. Watching DVDs three times in a row on rainy day. Afternoon nap under the shade of a tree. Farmer’s market on Saturdays, horseback riding, canoeing, Alder Lake!

Keiko, Jamie, and Roxy 8/27/10

The kids particularly enjoyed the frogs and salamanders. The adults liked watching movies when the kids were in bed!

Maggie and Peter 4/4/10

A relaxing escape from the city complete with sledding and warm fires. A great little escape at a wonderful cabin. I hope to return!

Marianne and Tony 1/15/10

What a perfect way to start the new year; it may even become a yearly tradition (if we’re lucky!) We both agree, if we could build our dream vacation cabin, this would be it exactly. The only thing missing is our Malamute who will have to come next year to frolic in the snow with us!

Julia and Rob 1/2/10

When we first stayed at One Happy Cabin for our anniversary in September, my wife had hoped we’d be able to come back and enjoy other seasons here. I surprised here with a weekend to celebrate my birthday here, but never expected the first weekend in December to turn into a winter wonderland! I was secretly hoping for an extra foot of snow, which would have forced us to extend our stay. Two seasons down, many to go.

Max, Maria and Padre and Petro (the cats) 12/6/09

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin is everything a cabin in the woods should be. Peaceful and rustic, with all the comforts of home! Thanks for allowing pets. We don’t really enjoy a vacation as much without the dog!! I don’t know how we’re going to get our little girl (2 years in January) out of the little bear chair!! We even bought her a choo-choo like the one on the mantle.

Yvette, Dave, Shelby and Abby Girl 11/26/09

What a perfect getaway for the two of us to rekindle our love. Your quiet, cozy cabin let us relax and enjoy nature. Thank you for having such a lovely home. We will be back!

Bianca and Paymen 10/23/09

Our 16th Wedding anniversary couldn’t have been more special. From the moment we pulled up to this sad moment we are about to leave, your piece of heaven couldn’t have been more right for us. How luck y you are, and how lucky are we that you share your beautiful home and property with others. This is our first entry in your guest book and hopefully, it won’t be our last.

Mariana and Max 9/11/09

We truly enjoyed every minute spent at your cabin. This land is so peaceful and exactly what we needed to restore our spirits. You have a very special piece of the world here, as I’m sure you know.

Chris and Susan 6/25/09

The kids and I had a glorious weekend! Jonathan (3 years old) had a ball trying to catch the salamanders in your pond. Ariana absolutely loved exploring with the telescope. We hope to come again soon!

Jennie, Ariana, Jonathan 9/1/08

Second best time we’ve been here now

the first time was in the winter snow.

But different as they are, the seasons

We came here for the same old reasons

The house is great, wide is the sky, So many stars are up there, high.

We love the nature, rain or shine

(we even saw a porcupine!)

We took a swim at Little Pond,

Of frogs out here we’ve grown quite fond.

We made a fire, in the rocks

And ate the best of all hot dogs.

But now, oh no, it’s time to pack.

The rhyme is over and we’ll be back.

Dave, Claudia, and family 7/5/08

We really enjoyed our weekend. Went for a great hike nearby on the Dry Brook trail. Walked in the stream and felt the cool water rushing on our feet. We always see deer on your property and this time we even saw a mother white two young fauns. We spotted blue birds and red winged black birds among others. The birdsong is so relaxing. It seems we always miss the auction. Seems they were on site somewhere again. We recommend the Slow Down Cafe in Andes for local, organic, breakfast and lunch. Cantina, also in Andes was decent Mexican and great margaritas. And Fancy Dinner at Peekamoose in Big Indian. Best of all: the fresh air and nature

Stana and Paul 6/20/08

We loved it! It is very picturesque. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and lounging around on the property with our doggies. Our three favorite things: 1. fire pit. 2. seclusion. 3. Atmosphere in cabin. We would definitely like to come back another time.

Lisbet and Jerry, Eddie and Quincy 8/14/08

It is truly One Happy Cabin! WE came for a long weekend to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our three year old daughter and our three month old son AND our dog. Our favorites: My husband: proximity to Plattekill (biking) and the flat screen TV. ME: the view from the porch and the whole vibe inside the cabin. Daisy: the bridge by the pond and the bear chair. Freddy: the mountain air. He slept soooo well!

Lizzie and Tony and family 6/21/08

The house is perfect and the property is amazing. It was the perfect getaway for some city folk who are a little country at heart. It was also paradise for our urban mutts. We hope to visit again!

Erica and Justin 6/2/08

We loved everything about your cabin. It made for an amazing an very special first anniversary. Many thanks.
